Biomes were generated differently than before due to the problems in the generation code, Such as removing, redesign and changing biomes generation.
Removed technical biomes:
Beaches(Until Release 1.1)
Gravel beaches(Until Release 1.7)
Removed biomes:
Seasonal Forest
Rainforest
Shrubland
Savanna(Until Release 1.7 and redesign terrain with variant.)
Tundra(Until Beta 1.9)
Redesign biomes:
Redesigned Swampland biomes.
Foliage tree and grass color of Swampland biomes were look more greener than before.
New tree type were generated differently compared to normal tree, such as shallow trees with vine and they also can be generated in water.
Under the seafloor will generate clay, sand and dirt of water.
Changes biomes:
Changes to Taiga biomes.
Taiga biomes were generated without snow and ice(Until 1.1).
Changes to Ocean biomes.
They generated almost infinitely.
Seafloor in the Ocean biomes will generated with clay, sand, dirt and rarely gravel instead of only dirt.
They were generated as part of the terrain generation algorithm.
Biomes added:
Added Extreme Hills biomes.
Foliage tree and grass color based on Taiga biomes.
They were generated as part of the terrain generation algorithm.
Biomes were generated much bigger and flatter.
Note
This means the snow, ice and fern were not generated at all and clay being fairly common(Tundra biomes(Until Beta 1.9)and Rainforest biome were removed completely, Taiga biomes Generate without snow and ice until Release 1.1, Swampland biomes and Ocean biomes clay generation much more common).
